Most are painted in watercolour, which is what keeps them from feeling like clip art — edges are soft, pigment pools, and the ground is left open. The palette follows the subject rather than a scheme: blue and white for the birds, pink and green for the butterflies and meadow insects, gold and warm brown for the lion, grey and amber for the wolf.
